WHAT IS A RALLY

A rally is a gathering of Caravan Club Members, for a weekend or holiday to promote friendship and pursue common pleasures, pastimes and sports in a light-hearted manner, having fun along the way. Rallies take place at all sorts of venues, from local fields to stately homes.

THE RALLY OFFICER

Your Rally Officer isn’t an official like a Traffic Warden, but member just like you, who has volunteered to organise and run the rally and greets you when you arrive.

WHAT TO DO

After you have booked your rally and the weekend arrives, just follow the directions in the rally book. As you approach the Rally Venue you will see directional signs to help you find the entrance. On arrival you will find the Rally Officer waiting for you at the rally office, which is usually the first van you see and has another sign outside so you can find him. Once you have booked in he will hand you an envelope, containing the programme for the weekend and competitions for all the family, and then direct you to your pitch. The field is marked out with ample space between caravans and with a tidy appearance. It is intended that the front offside corner of your caravan is on the marker and your car is parked on the offside. You can usually save a place for a friend, by placing something large (wellie or bucket) on an adjacent marker. You will also be shown where the fresh water tap is and the elsan disposal. Simple wooden levelling blocks may be needed at some venues.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The rally may include a social on the Saturday night which is a family event. Sometimes this takes place in an adjacent hall or in the summer it may be an outdoor social with a B.B.Q. Social evenings can range from a simple natter & noggin to dancing of all types with own entertainment or live acts. All these are entirely optional, but are always good fun.

FLAGPOLE

You may have heard of strange goings on around the flag, don’t be alarmed this is also a fun event and is where you and your fellow ralliers gather to hear results of competitions, welcome visitors and new ralliers, announce forthcoming events and rallies and most important, to thank the rally officers.
